BUK Burger Camden Review

Camden will always have a special place in my heart and let’s face it, so will halal gourmet burgers. So when I had heard that there was a proper burger restaurant in the heart of Camden, I had to give BUK (previously known as Burger UK) a go.

BUK is situated just off half farm road – a short walk away from Chalk Farm station. Alternatively, 2 minutes (if that) from Camden Market.

It’s super easy to get to which is a plus but the restaurant itself is tiny. We went on a Friday evening and it was really quiet so it may not be likely that you would have to queue or wait too long for your table.

The staff were friendly and helpful with their service and the tables and chairs were clean. I was glad to see the tables were fully stocked with condiments and tissues too. I did find it weird that they didn’t have any chilli sauce available, even when we asked for some. Not that it was needed to be honest.

We decided to order:
BUK’s Special – Classic beef burger with double american cheese, served in a seeded brioche bun with pickled onions, pickles, house sauce, house chilli sauce and caramelised onions.

BUK’s Truffle and bacon mayo beef burger – Smashed beef burger with smoked applewood cheese, served in a seeded brioche bun with pickled onions, pickles, truffle & bacon mayo, house chilli sauce and caramelised onions.

Spicy hand cut herb fries – Hand cut fries with a spicy sauce.

How was the food?

Both burgers were a good standard of a gourmet burger. The truffle burger had just enough meat to bun ratio for me and the special burger is definitely one for meat lovers. I thought the meat was seasoned adequately and the burgers were well put together.

I really liked the chips, they were a generous portions which were enough for two of us. The sauce they used was generous and even though I have no idea what flavours the sauce were, it worked.

Was it worth it?

Price wise, it’s a tough one. The cost of living has gone up so I do get it but at the same time, £12 for a burger with no sides seems extortionate to me. Especially considering, the location. If it was central London, maybe I could’ve overlooked it a bit but Camden? Bit of a joke tbh…

All in all though, BUK is a solid contender for one of the decent halal places to eat in Camden. They’ve also opened up in Hawley Wharf too, so with a second site in tow they can’t be doing all that badly!

Would I recommend it? Yeah definitely If you’re after a gourmet burger, it will hit the spot.

Would I go back? To be honest, there’s so many burger places that I wouldn’t travel to BUK especially but if I was in the area, I wouldn’t say no either.
