Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation review

I’ve tried enough base products to know that “skin-like” can mean very different things. Sometimes it means fresh, smooth and flattering. Other times it means every pore, dry patch and bit of texture suddenly looks worse by midday. Thankfully, the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation had me gasping in delight at first swipe.

What is the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation?

The Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation is a lightweight product that sits somewhere between a skin tint and a traditional foundation. Boots describes it as a hydrating, smoothing formula with medium, buildable coverage and up to 12 hours of wear. The bottle is 30ml, and it’s currently priced at £27. To me, this is a mid-priced foundation for that size and honestly, I feel like it’s well priced.

Finish and coverage

On me, the finish is best described as softly radiant and blurred. It is not flat, matte or heavy, but it is not overly shiny either. It just makes my skin look smoother, fresher and more even.

Coverage-wise, I’d call it light-medium to medium, depending on how much you apply. It is enough to take down redness, even out the skin and soften the look of post-blemish marks, but it still looks like skin. If you want a very full coverage base, this probably will not be enough on its own but I will say it is buildable!

Why I like it on dry skin and acne scarring

This is where it really wins for me.

I think the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation is especially good for dry skin because it does not cling in that horrible way some lightweight base products do. I’m using retinol so my skin is dry and flaky and I haven’t struggled with this skin tint. My skin still looks healthy and comfortable wearing it, rather than tight or dull.

I’m also super happy to report that it’s also great for acne scarring and uneven texture. A lot of foundations can make those areas look more obvious, especially in harsh lighting, but this one seems to smooth everything over instead. It softens the look of pores and texture rather than highlighting them, which is probably my favourite thing about it.

I use shade 3W and although this is supposed to be a warmer shade, I do feel like it pulls slightly neutral. For a warmer shade, I’d recommend 3W.5

If your skin is not perfectly smooth and you want something that still looks flattering up close, I think this is a really good option.

How I apply it

I get the best result when my skin is well moisturised first, then I blend it in with a brush. Because the formula is quite lightweight, good skin prep helps it look even smoother. It is the kind of product that works best when you want a polished but still natural-looking base.

How it wears through the day

The longevity actually impressed me.

When I did a wear test in the Mallorca sun, it held up really well. I was not expecting something this lightweight to last that nicely in heat, but it stayed looking smooth and fresh for hours. More importantly, it wore well. It did not go patchy or break apart in an unflattering way, and it still kept that soft blurred effect as the day went on.

For a lighter base product, I think the wear time is genuinely very good.

Is it worth the price?

At £27 full price for 30ml, I do think it sits in that mid-range category where you want it to perform properly. For me, it does. The current £21.60 sale price at Boots and Lookfantastic makes it even more appealing.

Because it looks flattering on dry, textured skin and actually lasts well, I do think it earns its price tag.

Who might not like it?

As much as I love it, I do not think this is for everyone. If you prefer a very matte finish or want full coverage that completely covers blemishes and scarring, this may not be the one for you. This is more about making your skin look smoother and better, not masking it completely.

Final thoughts

Overall, I really love the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation. It is lightweight, flattering, easy to wear and, most importantly, it looks good on real skin. It does not emphasise pores or texture, it sits beautifully on dry skin, and it held up far better than I expected in hot weather.

For me, it is one of those base products that gives you that smoother, fresher, your-skin-but-better look without punishing you for having texture or acne scarring.
