Zoo Nights at London Zoo Review: Adults-Only Summer Nights Out in London

There are only so many times you can suggest dinner and drinks before a London night out starts to feel like admin with better lighting.

So when something like Zoo Nights at London Zoo comes along, it’s an immediate yes from me. An adults-only evening at the zoo, in the middle of Regent’s Park, with street food, animal talks, live music, playful activities and sunset giraffe potential? That is a very specific kind of London magic.

Running every Friday from 5 June to 24 July 2026, Zoo Nights gives visitors the chance to experience London Zoo after hours in a more relaxed, grown-up setting. It is still wholesome, still wildlife-focused and still very much about conservation, but with a more social summer evening feel.

Basically, it is for anyone who wants a London plan that feels fun, a little nostalgic and not like every other Friday night.

What is Zoo Nights at London Zoo?

Zoo Nights is London Zoo’s adults-only summer evening series, open to guests aged 18 and over.

The event runs from 6pm to 10pm every Friday between 5 June and 24 July 2026, giving visitors the chance to explore the zoo as the sun sets over Regent’s Park.

Instead of the usual daytime visit, Zoo Nights is designed to feel more like an evening experience. You can wander through the zoo, listen to zookeeper talks, grab food from street food vendors, enjoy acoustic music and take part in playful activities along the way.

It is a softer, sillier, more unexpected kind of night out. Less “we booked the same restaurant again” and more “shall we go see the penguins after work?”

What’s included at Zoo Nights?

Zoo Nights brings together wildlife, food, music and entertainment, so there is enough going on to make the evening feel like more than just a standard zoo visit.

Across the night, you can expect:

Zookeeper talks

One of the biggest draws is the chance to hear from London Zoo’s zookeepers and learn more about some of the zoo’s most iconic animals, including Sumatran tigers, Humboldt penguins and giraffes.

This is the part that makes the evening feel a bit more meaningful. You are not just wandering around looking at animals, you are also learning about the species cared for at the zoo and the conservation work happening behind the scenes.

Street food and pop-up bars

A street food festival will take over the heart of the zoo, with vendors serving dishes from around the world. May I recommend Mr Bombay because the food was incredible!

There will also be pop-up bars across the site, alongside acoustic music performances to give the evening more of a relaxed summer festival feel.

For anyone who does not drink, this still feels like a good sober-friendly option because the main experience is not centred around alcohol. The focus is the zoo, the animals, the food, the music and the atmosphere.

Playful adults-only activities

Zoo Nights is also leaning into the joy of being a grown adult who still wants to have fun.

There will be face painting, interactive experiences and a new game called Two Truths and a Lion, which sounds like exactly the sort of thing you would laugh at, then end up taking very seriously.

It has that “kidulting” energy, but in a way that feels genuinely fun rather than forced.

The Lion King exhibition at London Zoo

This year, Zoo Nights also includes a special pop-up exhibition from Disney’s award-winning musical THE LION KING.

The exhibition is included with entry and will be available all summer to London Zoo guests. Visitors will be able to see the show’s intricate masks, puppets and costumes up close, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship behind one of the most recognisable musicals in the world.

This is a really clever addition because it gives the evening a cultural angle as well as a wildlife one. It is especially appealing if you love theatre, costume design, Disney, or you just want your summer plans to feel a little more memorable.

It also makes Zoo Nights feel like more than just an after-hours zoo visit. There is a proper London culture crossover happening here.

Can you upgrade your Zoo Nights experience?

Yes, there are several bookable upgrades available if you want to make the evening feel a bit more special.

Options include a Champagne Experience at Penguin Beach, guided tours, access to the new ZooTown indoor role play attraction and even a VIP Zoo Nights Sleepover in London Zoo’s on-site lodges.

The sleepover would be the big main character option. It feels like something you would book for a birthday, anniversary or a “we never do anything different” kind of weekend.

The guided tours are probably the best upgrade if you want to get more out of the conservation side of the evening, while ZooTown sounds ideal for anyone who is fully ready to let their inner child run the itinerary.

How much are Zoo Nights tickets?

Tickets for Zoo Nights start from £20 per person.

There is also an early bird June discount. If you book by 4 May 2026, you can save £3.50 per ticket on any of the first four nights.

There are also savings available on champagne and tour upgrades, plus visitors can save £35 on a Zoo Nights VIP Sleepover.

You can find more information and book tickets at www.londonzoo.org/zoonights.

Who is Zoo Nights best for?

Zoo Nights is a good option if you want a London evening plan that feels relaxed, social and a bit different.

I think it would work especially well for:

A summer date night
It is much more memorable than sitting opposite each other in another low-lit restaurant pretending you can hear the specials.

A girls’ night
It has enough going on to feel fun without needing to be a big night out.

A sober-friendly London plan
There are pop-up bars, but drinking is not the whole point of the event.

Animal lovers
Obviously. This is the easiest yes.

Theatre fans
The Lion King exhibition adds a lovely cultural layer to the evening.

Content creators
Regent’s Park, golden hour, giraffes, street food and Lion King costumes? The content practically plans itself.

People who are bored of normal London plans
Sometimes you just want to do something that does not feel like a copy and paste of every other weekend.

Is Zoo Nights at London Zoo worth booking?

I think Zoo Nights is worth considering if you are looking for a London summer event that feels fun, wholesome and genuinely different. It feels more like a playful, culture-meets-conservation evening. That makes it a really good option if you want something social but not chaotic.Time flies because it really is such a dreamy night out.

It is also a nice reminder that London still has those “wait, we can do that?” experiences tucked into the calendar. And honestly, in a city where plans can get expensive and repetitive very quickly, an evening at the zoo from £20 feels like a refreshing alternative.

Final thoughts

Zoo Nights at London Zoo feels like one of those summer events that could easily become a group chat favourite.

It is adults-only, but not overly serious. It is playful, but still meaningful. It gives you animals, street food, live music, zookeeper talks and a Lion King exhibition, all in one evening.

If your summer calendar needs something that is cute, low-pressure and a little bit unexpected, this is one to look at.

Because dinner is nice, of course. But dinner followed by sunset with the giraffes? Much better.

Zoo Nights runs every Friday from 5 June to 24 July 2026, from 6pm to 10pm, at London Zoo. Tickets start from £20 per person.
