If there’s one thing I am, it would be loyal. If I’m into a brand and I like what it’s doing for my face there is nothing in this world that can make me switch. I will overlook small things just to keep our relationship going (yes I am still talking about makeup at this point). It is for this reason that I stuck with this eyeliner for a decade. Then my watery eyes just couldn’t overlook the fact that it wasn’t staying on for the whole day, despite me loving the brush and I’ve been experimenting since. With all that being said, my recent discovery of Stila – Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner Micro Tip in Intense Black has got me a little bit loved up.
My biggest concern is that my eyelids in particular are very oily and as I said earlier, my eyes are very very watery. I think because I wear contact lenses on a daily basis, it doesn’t help matters either. Every single eyeliner I use either just along my lash line or in my water line just does not last.
Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is a felt-tip style liquid eye liner pen. The outer packing is sleek, with gold lettering on the black ‘pen’. It feels very grown up. The pen’s cap closes very securely so you don’t have to worry about it popping off in your purse or makeup bag, leaving a huge mess. Very very important for me as I carry it around all day!
The thing that drew me into the eyeliner was the “micro tip”, but I have to be honest, when I took off the cap for the first time I was surprised to see just how small the tip was in comparison to any eyeliners I’ve used before.
I have very big eyes too so I wasn’t sure if it was going to work for me.
On closer inspection I could see that the tip comes to a fine point so it would be great for precise application and it’s reasonably flexible for comfort.
I decided to give it a go anyway and I loved using it instantly. The color, intense black, is a very dark, true black and the finish is neither particularly glossy nor matte. Perfect for me because I like neither glossy not very matte liners on my eyes.
The smaller, shorter tip meant that I had better control and could get into the inner corners of my eyes very easily. The cat flick was the ultimate test though and it passed with flying colours! I was able to do a small, every day cat flick really easily without losing control of the pen. The ink also flows really nicely through the nib.
Since using the Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner I’ve picked up a trick or two which includes filling in between eyelashes on days that I want a very subtle but still ‘awake’ look. It’s also fantastic to use to create a graphic liner.
I guess it’s all good and well that it works great but the real question is, is it waterproof? You’ll be pleased to know that it definitely is! Of course if I rub my eyes with water then it smudges a little bit but in general it stays put. It doesn’t transfer at all and it’s really easy to get off with a good makeup remover.
Let’s talk price, is it worth it? At the time of writing this review the price of the eyeliner is £16. This is only the second felt tip liner I’ve used (the first being Kat Von D’s Tattoo Ink liner) and it’s definitely in line with that one. I initially purchased this on a whim and I was a bit concerned at whether it would be worth the price but now that I’ve used it for about 3 months, I can confirm it’s definitely worth it.
I love when a product does exactly what it promises and performs exactly as expected. Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner definitely stays where I put it, all day long, even on very long, long days and comes off easily when I want it to. The micro tip allows people who like me who don’t have very steady hands to gain much more control and create a flawless look.
Would I recommend and repurchase? Wholeheartedly recommend. I’ve just realised that I didn’t find a single bad point about this product. For a fussy person, this is huge. It’s on my repurchase list for sure.
