I’m not very good with eye makeup. My friends and sisters like to gas me up and insist I am but I wouldn’t agree. It takes me a very very long time to get things looking remotely decent but it’s something that I want to work on. It would be a heck of a lot easier to practise on YouTube but I’m not really interested in making and creating videos. The thought of the effort just gives me a headache! So I’m going to practise makeup looks and attempt to blog the process. It’s not as fun to watch but I guess it’s more for myself and to see how I progress.
I did this look about a year ago for a friends brothers wedding. I’m not usually daring when it comes to eyeshadow but I was determined to find a way to wear red without it looking like I had been pepper sprayed.
The products used were:
Primer: Benefit Porefessional primer
Eyeshadow base: MAC paint pot ‘Soft Ochre’
Eyes: NYX Primal eyeshadow in ‘Hot Red’ and Urban decay (Naked Smoky palette) in shade ‘Black market’
Eyeliner: Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eye Liner
Eyelashes: Superdrug own brand (£1 lashes!)
Foundation: Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation – shade 4.0
Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid Lipstick – ‘American doll’
Bronzer: H&M in shade ‘Gorgeous Tan’
Highlight: Makeup Revolution ‘Golden Lightes’
Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ‘Dark Brown’
I wish I had taken photos of the process but I wasn’t planning on doing a post and I had a tight time frame to finish my makeup in. I considered recreating the look but lol I’m lazy. Instead I will say that even though both the NYX and Urban Decay shadows were very pigmented, blending is really really long and tedious. You don’t realise just how long it takes when watching tutorials because they speed it up and cut the boring bits out.
