In my last post I talked a little bit about bringing back Project Pan in order to work through some of the makeup I have just sitting around in drawers.
I also want to get better at applying my own makeup so I’ve decided I’m going to start a little project for myself.
Each week (or maybe every fortnight) I’ll give myself a theme and try to create a look around it. I’ll try my best to take photos of the process and progress so that if I, or any of you, want to recreate the look again it’s easier to figure out how.
Since it’s officially summer now, the theme this week is pretty easy to guess….
This is what I came up with and if I’m completely honest, I was really happy with it. It’s SO simple to do and only requires two shades of eyeshadow.
Here’s my quick guide on how I achieved it:
First I did my eyebrows very quickly using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Dark Brown. I didn’t want them to be “Instagram brows” and wanted them fairly natural so I just defined and darken them. Then I used the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer over my entire eyelid as a base coat. My eyelids are quite dark so a concealer base really helps to get the eyeshadow colours popping. This concealer is also tacky enough to get the eyeshadows to stick. Alternatively you can use an actual eyeshadow primer.
Next I covered just the eyelid in yellow eyeshadow, packing it on. I used MAC Chrome Yellow for this look. Once the colour was all over the lid, I blended it upwards towards my eyebrows.
Then using small dense brush work a bright orange shade into the outer crease. I used ‘Slowburn’ from the Urban Decay Electric palette. Using a fluffy brush I worked the orange shade both upwards and downwards; packing on more colour into the outer V of the eyelid.
Once I was happy with the blending, I moved on to finishing it off with eyeliner.
I used Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner to line the lid and L’oreal Infallible gel crayon to line the waterline. I LOVE long lashes so I completed the eyes with Superdrug’s own brand eyelashes in Volume 304.
I finished off the rest of my face using the following products:
To tie the whole look together I used the highlighter on my brow bone, cheek bones, end of my nose and all over my lips (over the top of my liquid lipstick).
What do you think?
I’d love for you to take part and join in with next weeks theme of *drum roll* – BARBIE! If you do decide to take part, get in touch and send me your links to your blog posts or Instagram posts so I can check them out too.
