Let’s be real, one of the best things about living in London is being able to visit eateries that serve breakfast all day. I’m not an early bird, and the thought of having to commute during rush hour to get a decent breakfast just doesn’t fill me with joy. If that sounds a lot like you then let me introduce to you my new fave – EggBreak.
Nestled on the corner of Uxbridge and Farmer Street, yep it’s those quintessential pastel coloured Notting Hill streets, right behind the station you’ll find Egg Break standing proudly in between a pink and a lavender shop front.
Egg Break, is bought to us by the Ennismore and the Soho House group and they couldn’t have thought of a better concept.
The restaurant/cafe (not really sure what you would call it tbh) has a quaint interior. The small space is cosy and has an almost farmhouse feel. There’s also a larger seating area downstairs for bigger groups.
The menu is pretty simple and is built entirely around the humble egg.
My obsession with Hollandaise sauce meant that naturally I opted for Eggbreak Benny with toasted English muffin, poached eggs and Hollandaise. I was told that this dish required me to “build my own” eggs benedict and I had to pick a side to go with it. I went for spinach but thought this was a bit odd/cheeky.
My friend was in the mood for something spicy so went with the Shakshuka. The waitress actually asked whether she wanted this very spicy and they allowed her to have her eggs poached instead of fried. I love when food places cater to your tastebuds. They also had tobasco sauce which was offered to us – winning!
The service was ok – actually I’m being kinda fussy. The service was good, I just didn’t like being told how to order my food (lol).
Surprisingly, the prices are not extortionate considering the prime location and well with it being a concept restaurant. Either way, I wasn’t complaining. With an addition of an extra side of halloumi, orange juice and a double espresso our bill came to £34.09. Not bad.
Would I recommend Eggbreak? If you’re after eating eggs or a very late brunch then absolutely. No fuss/frills, just the good stuff
Would I visit again? I can definitely see myself going back.
