For this festive season, King’s Cross is adding an alpine après-ski theme to Christmas festivities and I cannot wait! Taking inspiration from alpine slopes and ski chalets, the neighbourhood will transform into an illuminated, traffic-free wonderland for all to enjoy.

The much loved Club Curling returns, where teams of up to six can slide and sweep and jostle along the ice, from 12pm to 8pm from every day (£7). This is super fun and booking is recommended.
A huge 35 foot Christmas tree will also take prize position in Coal Drops Yard. Expect it to be covered in ski accessories and lit up with bold neon lights to conjure up Swiss mountain-scapes. Once the festive season is over, the tree’s needles will be diffused down to create alpine essence for candles, which will then go on sale in Coal Drops yard. We love a sustainable queen.
Temenos, a geometric winter sculpture by artist Liliane Lijn will return too, this time in Cubitt Square. The immersive installation stands 11 metres tall and is made with 19 neon yellow and orange poles. Granary Square will also have something up their sleeves. Watch this space for further updates on what to expect.
All of this can be topped off at the Après ski bar, which will serve up festive hot chocolates, hot toddies, and alpine cocktails.
And if that’s not enough, King’s Cross will host a festive takeover of its markets from November 4 to December 22, with a changing line up of food, arts, craft, and fashion. See you there?
When: Weds 9th November – Sunday 26th Feb
