Eggbreak At Albie London Review

Long time no review! After over a year of being in lockdown, coming out of this one felt so much more liberating. Despite only being able to dine outdoors for the moment, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to brunch out before the start of Ramadan. I wanted a relatively low key spot which wouldn’t be full of crowds, so I decided to treat my friend to brunch at Eggbreak – Albie.

Eggbreak Review

What is Albie?

Ok so I didn’t get it either but it’s a really great concept. Albie is an all-day lobby (with terrace) inside The Hoxton serving food from two exciting restaurant residencies. So basically whether it’s eggs you’re after (Eggbreak) or some fried chicken (Pecking order) they’ve got you covered.

I decided to go with Eggbreak and I loved the fact that it has the full menu to choose from. It’s not just a concept where they pick a few items. There are enough options for vegetarians too. I have been to the Notting Hill Eggbreak branch before and loved the food so I knew I couldn’t go wrong.

Between us we ordered the sweet potato rosti with a poached egg, goat’s cheese, kale, pine nuts, dill yogurt topped with pomegranates and the avocado toast with is sourdough, poached eggs, smashed avocado, salsa verde, leafy radish, lime.

I have to say the food was WAY better than when I had visited in 2018. I feel like they have really taken regular brunch dishes and thought about the flavours.

Eggbreak Review

The avocado on toast tasted incredible. That salsa verde was just something else but the sweet potato rosti stole the show for me. Honestly it was so so good. If you love goats cheese, then I’m sorry but what is better to eat it than a whole slab of goats cheese served to you in your meal?? Honestly speaking though, I loved the sweet and sour contrast between the cheese and sweet potato rosti. The yoghurt and pomegranates brought a slight middle eastern twist to it.

We sat in the outside terrace (because legally that’s the only place we can sit atm lol) but when I went inside to use the bathroom, it looks so lovely. It gives me upgraded Bombay cafe vibes – it’s honestly beautiful.

Will I return? Definitely! Still in the process of finding out whether Pecking Orders halal but if it is I’ll be back even sooner!

Would I recommend it? I’m reluctant to say yes because it’s such a great spot haha. Seriously though, would recommend.
