Christmas at Kew 2022 Review

Happy 10th year of Christmas at Kew! The light trail is without a doubt London’s best and most loved and paved the way for many other light fueled immersive trails.

This year will be just as awe inspiring as you begin the trek with selfie-worthy giant baubles and ending with the usual grand finale projected against the iconic palm house. The 2.7 km trail is filled with some regular installations and some brand new ones that will have everyone gasping at how pretty it all looks.

There are plenty of stops for hot chocolate and mulled wine between the bespoke installations – each accompanied by a Christmas tune. This year visitors can also book a traditional Christmas dinner at The Botanical Brasserie or just bag a ticket to this festive staple.

What did I think of this year’s Christmas at Kew?

Christmas at Kew is one of our Christmas traditions and this year we were unfortunate to have had tickets to go on a rainy day. I wasn’t sure if this would put a dampener on things or even if the show would be cancelled. It turns out neither of things happened and we had an incredible time.

My favourite installation had to be ‘Liquid dreams’. If you do check it out, remember to turn around when you get to the end. It’s one of those that can’t be captured on camera but is stunning.

I have to say though, I expected a teeny tiny bit more of a celebration for 10 years of such a monumental staple in London’s Christmas festivities.

Is it worth the price?

As long as you treat it as a day out and take your time through the trail, it is a really lovely evening out.

Is it good for kids?

Yes and no. The trail is really long so they will get tired. The light displays are also not interactive so as long as they’re happy to look at light displays they will love it. If they do make it to the end, they’ll definitely enjoy belting out Frozen’s ‘Let it go’ to the grand finale.

Would I recommend Christmas at Kew 2022? As always, absolutely. Try to check the weather before booking and remember to wear your comfy shoes.
