When I saw Yen Burger pop up on my Instagram, I literally moved a meeting so that I could go and visit for lunch the next day. That fluffy bun in a bamboo basket was the burger aesthetic of my dreams and finding out that they’re halal just made it even better.
If you live in London, it’s actually in the perfect location. It’s just a short walk from London Bridge station and it’s across the road but away from the hustle and bustle of Borough Market. From the outside it looks quaint and when you walk in there are three small tables which are cute but when you go downstairs, my goodness it’s beautiful! They’ve used Japanese aesthetics and created such a beautiful seating area, along with a sakura tree next to the bar. Even if you’re seated upstairs, make sure you head downstairs to check it out.

We decided to order the ‘Spice Burger’ [Aberdeen angus beef, lettuce, shiso, pickles, red onion, Turn up sauce] (I added blue cheese) and the ‘Yen supreme’ [100% wagyu beef, turkey bacon, lettucs, shiso, pickles, red onion, yen sauce, cheddar]. For sides we had sweet potato chips.
I can wholeheartedly recommend both burgers because they were cooked to perfection. They do ask how you want your burgers cooked which is a massive plus but they also cook it in front of you (well, behind the counter) so you know it’s really fresh. I feel like gourmet burgers can often taste unseasoned but all the flavours worked so well together. I really want to know what this turn up sauce is!
The steamed buns were so fluffy and I loved that they didn’t feel as carb-y as a normal burger bun. NGL I could’ve ordered another!
The prices are affordable, especially considering the location and lets face it, the unique concept.
Would I recommend it? YES! I was tempted to keep this find a secret because it’s just THAT good.
Would I visit again? Absolutely.
