If like me you’re a fan of the Daisy Green Collection, then you’ll love their latest addition, Scarlett Green. Located on Noel Street in Soho, at the former site of Timberyard, their new venue follows the usual concept of being inspired by the Melbourne and Sydney café culture. If I’m honest, the outside is pretty non-descript (aside from the deckchairs outside), I would have completely walked past without so much of a second glance. Luckily I did recognise the deckchairs and immediately set a brunch date for dinner time because why not.
Set over two floors, it has instagrammable aesthetics down to an absolute T. Think marble tables, plush seating, exposed walls; honestly it’s just stunning! Not in a pretentious way either. It’s really very chilled out even when it is busy.
I must admit, I was so busy chit-chatting that I didn’t take too many photos of the interior but you’re going to have to believe me on this one!
The menu includes a selection of all-day brunch dishes, which features at the rest of their branches as well as single bites, small plates, and salads, plus dishes suitable for a more substantial lunch or dinner. The menu at Scarlett Green seems much more extensive and caters to pretty much everyone in comparison to some of the other branches.
I decided I wasn’t feeling very adventurous so I opted for my usual: Broccoli and corn fritters, served with poached egg, avocado and the delicious chilli (which isn’t spicy) pesto. The Vegemite, cheese and truffle doughnut also called out to me so I had to give it a go. I LOVE marmite and cheese so this had to be a winner for me.
The service was as expected, very relaxed and friendly, I honestly couldn’t fault it. We ordered Raspberry and Lime House Coolers too which came first and let’s just say it was so good that I might have ordered a second one too (whoops!). The food arrived in good time and as always it looked amazing. I asked for extra Chilli Pesto as well because I love how it accompanies the fritters and avo.
The Vegemite and cheese doughnut was less of a doughnut and more of a….cheeseball (Indians will know what I mean). It was good but I think I much prefer marmite over vegemite!
The fritters were as good as ever. Couldn’t fault it.
Throughout the day, Scarlett Green also serves the Daisy Green collection’s renowned bottomless brunch, with exclusive new additions offered alongside signature dishes such as their Smashed Avo on Charcoal Sourdough or my personal fave, yep you guessed it, Brocolli and Corn Fritters. Even if you’re not up for a full meal I would recommend theirartisan coffee made with their house Beany blend. Sweet tooth? I’d recommend their irresistable award-winning banana bread, topped with mascarpone, fresh berries, flaked almonds, and honey. Mouth. Is. Watering.
Scarlett Green is open seven days a week from early breakfast at 7am until late, with a live DJ in the evenings from Thursday to Saturday. Reservations are available via the Daisy Green collection’s website and Opentable. If you shop on Oxford St then put this down on your list of trusty places to eat!
