Kosas Revealer Skin Improving Foundation Shade 270 Swatch and Review

The sun is finally making an appearance (can you believe it?) and I’m on the hunt for the perfect foundation for the summer. You know, something that gives you that flawless, “lit-from-within” glow without feeling cakey or heavy. I have heard some great things from the makeup girlies about Kosas Revealer Skin Improving Foundation so I picked it up in shade Medium Tan Olive 270. Let’s break it down!

What’s makes Kosas Revealer Skin Improving foundation a great buy?

This foundation is all about that “skin but better” look. It’s got medium coverage, which is perfect for me because I want to even out my skin tone but still look and feel like my skin. The finish is natural and dewy, which is a major plus for summer when you don’t want to look sweaty even before you’ve left the house! Plus, it’s got SPF 25, which is a win in my book because some skin protection is better than none.

Kosas also claim that this powerhouse blend of actives is clinically proven to hydrate, brighten, soothe, plump and protect over time. Long wearing. Silicone free.

Clinical Results
Immediately:
97% agreed this product blended easily to become like a second skin.(1)
97% agreed this product provided the desired coverage(1)

After 4 weeks:
100% agreed my skin’s texture is more smooth(1)
97% agreed my pores are less visible when I wear this product(1)
100% saw improvement in hydration and firmness on bare skin(2)

(1)based on a consumer study with 32 females
(2)based on a clinical measurement study with 32 females

I love a clinical trial so I had to give this a go for mysellf.

Shade 270: Olive Girls Rejoice!

Finding a foundation that actually matches olive skin tones can be a struggle. But Kosas gets major points for their shade range, and 270 is a great choice for olive toned girls. It’s a medium tan shade with green undertones, which is exactly what you might need to avoid looking orange or ashy.
Unfortunately for me, despite getting matched in the Space NK store, I have discovered I’m more neutral than I am olive so the shade match was not it for me. Since I did buy it I thought I’d give you my views on it anyway.

The Verdict?

Overall, I’m super impressed with the Kosas Revealer Skin Improving Foundation. It’s lightweight, buildable, and gives you that gorgeous summer glow. I can see it being perfect for dry or combination skin. One thing I did notice is that there is a distinct smell. I did end up googling and on their website they state the following:

“Since we formulate our complexion products without added fragrances and other irritating ingredients, they may have a natural and distinct scent. If you notice any change in smell with your products or an unusually strong, unpleasant smell, please let us know. We’d be happy to send you a new one.”

I have a very strong sense of smell so I’m not sure I could walk around all day with it so close to my nose, but perhaps it would wear off by the end of the day. I haven’t yet been able to wear it due to the wrong shade so can’t comment on that. I did however leave the swatches on my arm and they stayed on all day. Obviously this isn’t the same as the skin on your face but it seems promising and I’m eager to repurchase.

Price wise, at £35 it’s definitely at the higher end of make up. Based on just the formula and the feel, I do really want to give it a good go. I will get myself rematched and report back!
