Just saw Frankie Goes to Bollywood and let me tell you, it’s a full-on assault on the senses in the best way possible! Think glitter, banging tunes, and enough costume changes to make your head spin.

The story follows Frankie, a British Indian woman living for the daydreams of Bollywood films. When she gets whisked away to India, she finds herself thrust into the dazzling world she’s always admired. But behind the sequins and song lyrics, things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows.
The show doesn’t shy away from showing the darker side of the industry, but it does it with a wink and a nudge. It’s more “Girlboss conquers Bollywood” than gritty documentary, but that’s totally okay. We leave the theater feeling empowered and ready to dance the night away!
Here’s the real kicker: the production is incredible. The set design is transportive, taking you straight from rainy England to the vibrant streets of Mumbai. But the real stars are the cast. We’re talking real talent, fantastic acting and even better voices.
And let’s not forget the dancing! The choreography is energetic and fun, with influences from traditional Indian dance to full-on Bollywood showstoppers. The cast is clearly having a blast, and their enthusiasm is infectious.
Is it for everyone?
Maybe not. If you’re looking for a deep and meaningful drama, this ain’t it. But if you want a night of pure escapism, with catchy tunes and enough color to rival a bag of Skittles, then Frankie Goes to Bollywood is your jam. The cast are all fantastic, and for me the supporting cast really stole the show. My only *slight* gripe is that the lead Laila Zaidi, speaks in a tone usually reserved for panto. Other than that it’s a real feel good show that I’d recommend to all ages.
Final verdict: Get your dancing shoes on and grab your tickets! You won’t regret it.
