For the past 3 months I’ve been using a prescription strength retinoid so my skin is extra sensitive. I’ve been advised to use SPF all day every day to protect it so naturally I’ve been on the look out for a cheaper alternative to Heliocare 360. Right on cue, I was very kindly sent the Garnier UV Face Fluid SPF to try out.

The bottle is small and very light weight. I love that. I’m liking smaller handbags atm and this bottle would be ideal to pop into a handbag to use throughout the day. When you unscrew the cap there’s a nozzle which I am living for. I prefer to use the nozzle to pour the SPF straight on to my face before rubbing it in. Brownie points for both hygiene reasons and ease of use.
I used the word pour because it is exactly what it says on the tin bottle – a face fluid. The consistency is very very watery so you do have to make sure you hold the bottle upright when you’re opening it or it really will spill.

The light consistency means that it’s very easy to work into your skin. It also means that although the fluid is white, it becomes transparent really quickly.

It has very high protection (50+ SPF) against UVA, UVB and long UVA. I did a bit of reading and found out that this product was developed for sensitive and sun intolerant skin.
One of my favourite things about it is that there is no greasy feeling or sticky residue after using it. It’s also water resistant.
There’s no added fragrances and I’m happy to report that it doesn’t smell of anything either.
Is it worth getting?
The SPF is priced at £6.00 for 50ml which is 100% worth it. For me, it has absolutely everything that I could want and need from a sun protectant.
Update: I realised that actually this product only has 3 stars UVA rating. I’m no expert but I’m not sure whether this would be strong enough protection on those extremely sunny summer days.
Would I buy this again? Yes I think I would use it through winter when the sun isn’t very strong.
Would I recommend it? I do love it however it might be worth looking into something with higher UVA ratings.
