I feel compelled to write this post as there was so much excitement regarding the opening of Akub in Notting Hill.
I really thought chef and restaurateur Fadi Kattan would make some serious waves in the restauarant world by opening up an authentic Palestinian restaurant. I mean the restaurant part is happening but sadly he has chosen not to make it halal.
It’s also super strange that they won’t publicly answer that they don’t serve halal but will DM people privately to say no.
Seems shady and I’d steer clear tbh.
It’s a real shame to be alienating the very people that are standing up for Palestine and want to be loud and proud in celebrating the country that is Palestine. I definitely will not be visiting and would rather spend my money in more authentic establishments. A list of which to visit will be up soon.
