Style on a Budget: Make it Happen Today

Going from working full time to working part time has taken a hit to my wallet. When you want to look great but you don’t have the money to spend on making that happen, it can be a bit frustrating. No one wants to find that they don’t have the money to spend on the latest trends or keep up with their beauty treatments/regimes. Since I’ve been feeling like this for some time now, I’ve found a trick or two on being frugal.

Read on to learn about some of the tips and tricks that will allow you to look stylish on a budget.

Aim to Simplify
It really is as simple as that. You should aim to simplify your wardrobe if you want to look great without spending a fortune. To me capsule wardrobes always seemed pretty boring to me but I’ve realised that it’s just common sense to assume that you can save money by buying fewer items. I also need to stop buying elaborate clothing that I can only wear on nights out. Instead I should invest in items that I can dress up with some jewellery and other accessories. Sometimes, it’s the simplest designs that end up looking the best. Keeping that in mind – do what you can to keep things minimal, while still looking great. There are so many ways to do this, but the best way is to research some minimalist outfit ideas (Pinterest is great for this!) and then adapt them to fit you.

Choose Cheap Fabrics That Look Expensive
First of all, step AWAY from the polyester. Brands like Boohoo are the biggest culprits of using really cheap looking (and costing) fabric for their clothes. Cheap fabrics are actually really easy to come by, tweed is not expensive and cotton certainly isn’t. The trick is to find these kinds of fabrics incorporated into an expensive-looking design. Many of these high-quality fabrics are used to make low-cost clothing. If you can make it look like you’re wearing an expensive fashion item when actually you’re not, that can only be a good thing, right? Look for tailored fits and good seam work. It makes all the difference!

Find Websites That Sell Branded Products at a Reduced Rate
With more Etailers than ever before are available to shop from, these days, you don’t have to stay loyal to a small handful of clothing shops on the high street. There are so many websites that seek out great discounts and the internet is awash with fantastic offers if you’re willing to look for them. Take advantage of some of the websites that sell branded products at a reduced rate. Get the Label is one example, and there are many more out there too. By shopping around, you’ll be sure to find the best deals possible for the fashion items you want.

Embrace Black Clothing
This trick has been around forever, but it does work. Not only is black more flattering for your figure, but it can also hide any of the giveaway signs of a cheap garment. It’s much easier to spot a cheap clothing item of another colour. But black items always look good and remain classy in appearance, even if you didn’t spend much money at all on them.

You don’t have to spend a small fortune to look great, and you definitely don’t have to compromise on looking the part without breaking the bank. What are your best tips for looking great on a small budget?
