Happy Blue Monday! I’m actually not feeling so blue today but yesterday was not a good day. After some serious reflection, I’ve decided to make some lifestyle changes that will boost my happy feelings. Here’s some of what I’m doing to change up my routine a bit in a quest to feel healthier and happier.
5am club – I’ve decided I’m actually going to do it.I’m going to get up at 5am no matter how hard it is and start my day by focusing on my self. Whether it’s, prayer or meditation or just some reflection, I’m going to do it! Then I’ll use the rest of the time to write.
Writing over rejection – Speaking of writing, I recently got my first official rejection email from a copywriting company. It’s odd because I only stumbled across them due to gaining referrals straight to my blog so I thought I’d apply to be a writer. I was disappointed that they refused me yes, but then I reminded myself that none of the greats made it anywhere without a few (or in some cases A LOT) of rejections first. Onwards and upwards!
Campaigning – I’m currently campaigning to help raise money and awareness for homeless women to receive the sanitary products they need. Seriously though, imagine being on your period and homeless. I’d really appreciate it if you could support the campaign and share on your social media sites or donate to the cause here. Actually being able to see the person you’re helping is such a different feeling from just giving money to a charity that helps those in a country you will never visit. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all up for giving to anyone that you can help but there are a lot of issues closer to home that I’d love to address too. Perhaps, seeking happiness in helping people is me helping for selfish reasons, but it’s a win win situation as far as I’m concerned. Nothing beats the feeling of putting a smile on someone’s face.
Fitness – I don’t exercise. The only sit up I do is actually getting out of bed in the morning, and believe me, even that’s a struggle. I want to be able to build up my stamina and of course lose that extra tyre I’m carrying around, so I invested in a Jawbone Move. It’s motivating me to walk more and even monitors my sleep to help me ensure I’m well rested and ready to face the day. So far, I’m loving it! I’ve set my goal to 10,000 steps a day, here’s to hoping I get there!
Eating – I’m going to be honest, I’m not doing anything about it…yet. But my short term goal is to set up a pinterest board for really easy healthy but filling recipe’s for lunch time. That’s where I’m really struggling, because fruit just doesn’t cut it for me. I’m working on it.
My pursuit of happiness is a work in progress. I’ve learnt a lot already this year and got a lot to do to work towards it, but just looking at the goals I’m setting for myself is bringing a smile to my face because it’s giving me direction. I’m on the road, I’ve just got to take that path that’s never been walked on before.
