Creating Kindness

On my commute home from work today, whilst sandwiched in between strangers, breathing in their musty smells and being elbowed in my ribs, I tried to think of happy things and happy places to get me through the journey, but it just didn’t happen. I then got to my local train station and someone barged past me to get through the ticket barriers with me so that they didn’t have to pay. I was absolutely livid. I was so ready to march straight over to him and explode at what he just did. It was at this point that I came to a realisation that this year so far I’ve become someone who is very quick to get angry. I know, I know, everyone gets angry sometimes but I’m finding little things really boil my blood recently and it takes so much out of me. By the time I’m done feeling like the Hulk I’m exhausted. I’ve decided to use the month of June to take a stand and counteract these feelings of rage by being extra kind. It takes 21 days to form a habit, or so I’ve heard, so for the next month I’m going to be spreading some serious kindness everywhere. I mean it doesn’t cost a damn thing right? So why not sprinkle that shit everywhere.

Kindness is just one of those things that warms the heart. No act of compassion or kindness is wasted and when it’s really appreciated it makes both people feel great. Girls in particular need to be kinder to other girls. I’ve seen way way too much bitching. Why not be nicer and empower each other rather than drag each other down?

So whether it’s doing something for someone, giving up my seat on my commute, paying someone a compliment or even commenting on someone’s blog to tell them how brilliant they are, I’m going to do it! I’m going to be keeping tracking of all the things I’ve done and maybe even the reactions of other people and how it’s made me feel. Hopefully by the end of June I’m going to be a new, calm, patient and most importantly an extremely kind woman!
