It’s finally happening! If you’re following me on my social channels you’ll have seen a few hints on how I’m in the process of moving and will finally have my very own dedicated blogging space/office!

full of ideas

Before I got carried away with pinning all the interior inspo on Pinterest, I realised that I had to get my priorities in order and get access to the internet up and running as soon as possible. I mean, not only is having broadband vital for blogging but also the fact that I don’t actually remember the last time I watched normal television. Netflix has taken over my life!

I’m someone who loves to research EVERYTHING beforehand so I’ve done all the hardwork and come up with 5 things you will need to ask yourself in order to find the best broadband only deals.

Who do I go with?

There are actually numerous different UK providers that offer their version of broadband only so it can get tricky. However they all pretty much offer something different, whether that’s broadband with a phone line and pay-as-you-go calls or a no calling package. The best place to check these out is here.

So do I need a phone line?

This is where it gets slightly tricky, as Virgin Media are currently the only UK provider to offer broadband without a phone line. You can do a search online to check whether Virgin is available in your area. Although, something to bear in mind is that you won’t be saving any money on line rental. Line rental doesn’t just apply to a ‘phone line’ – it actually applies to any physical line carrying any kind of signal (broadband or phone) into your home.

Am I going to get a great internet connection?

Ensure you choose a provider with a high quality of service in your specific area. A good deal and package is no use to you if the coverage in your area is poor. Broadband comparison sites allows you to put in your postcode first so you can get great deals that are tailored to your home. This website helped me to find one of the best broadband only deals online.

What speed do I need?

Blogging often means downloading quite a bit of content so  download speed is a big factor to consider. If you have a need for speed, fibre is the word you’re looking for. Fibre-optic broadband is now available for 80% of the UK and has come down massively in price over the past few years.

How many devices will be connected?

It’s worth noting that the higher the Mbps, the more devices you can use without slowing internet down. If you’re in a family home and three different people are watching Netflix, it doesn’t make sense to opt for a package which will leave you buffering for longer than you’re actually streaming.

So there you have it, my top tips to getting yourself the best broadband only deal that works for you
