After missing out on it the first time round, yesterday I managed to catch The Kite Runner at the Playhouse theatre and oh my god. All of the feels!!
For the first time ever I haven’t procrastinated with writing a blog post because I just had to let you guys know that you need to go and see it.
I had never been to the Playhouse theatre before and I really liked it. It’s just the right size without being too big or too small and there was enough leg room too. I was lucky enough to get great seats, so I could see the characters expressions with my awful eyesight but even if you were further back the view would still be great due to the size of the theatre.
The cast is brilliant and the acting is absolutely phenomenal. There isn’t much by way of set and no elaborate technical jazz – just pure talented acting and a wonderful story. Each character was so convincing that I was fighting back tears throughout. By the time it got to the last “For you a thousand times over” I was an emotional wreck.
I loved the fact that they kept things so authentic by using a live table player and even speaking Farsi during some scenes.
I remember reading The Kite Runner a few years ago over the course of just two days and I couldn’t put it down. The entire book made me feel so uncomfortable yet I still couldn’t stop reading.
The producers did a fantastic job in bringing the book to life, definitely doing it justice.
There isn’t much more to say really, other than that the show is on for a limited time only so hurry! Book your tickets through the Playhouse theatre here.
