Rush Westbourne Grove Hair Salon Review

I finally did it! After months of stressing out about getting a cut, and then getting it coloured without a cut, I finally let someone loose with scissors near my hair – and boy am I glad it did! Scroll down to the bottom to see just how amazing my hair looked after it was cut!

This week I had the chance to visit the brand spanking new Rush that has opened up on Westbourne Grove. A 5 minute walk from Bayswater/Queensway so it’s really easy to get to.

I walked into the brand new salon and I have to say I loved the new look of it. It was clean but not clinical and seemed cosy.

I was introduced to Cory who would be doing my hair and he showed me to my seat. From the get go, it just felt so welcoming and I didn’t feel awkward at all. Cory asked me what I wanted done to my hair and we discussed somethings we could do. I loved that he didn’t take over and the ball was completely in my court. Since I still very much love my long hair and I got it coloured not too long ago, I didn’t want to take too much of it off. I wanted to sort out my fringe which had grown out without going too crazy with it. Before I knew it, I was happy leaving him to work his magic.

I loved that Rush offer you a range of beverages, (not just water!) and it comes on a cute little tray with Lindt chocolates! Sorry but if you’re going to offer me chocolate you’re definitely in my good books.

Rush Westbourne Grove Treatments

Cory asked me to pick which hair treatment I wanted and we decided to go with the Kerastase Fusio-Dose which is a tailor made hair treatment made just for you. Unlike traditional hair treatments, the beauty of Fusio-Dose is that you can combine different hair treatments into one depending on what your hair requires. The initial dose of goodness is in the concentrate – so this comes in the bottle. There is:

  • Concentre Substantif (purple) – volume & density. To increase thickness of hair.
  • Concentre Vita-Ciment (green) – reinforcement to replenish protein. For strength and repair.
  • Concentre Oleo-Fusion (orange) – renourishment for dry hair. Creating a smooth and sleek finish.
  • Concentre Pixelist (pink) – colour protection. To enhance colour brilliance.

Then there are 4 booster caps which when connected to the concentrate it releases an intense dose of goodness.

  • Ionium (orange) – nutrition. The ionium molecules will penetrate the hair to create improve smoothness of each hair filament.
  • Ceramid (green) -strength. To restore damage.
  • Polyphenols (pink) – colour radiance. For long lasting colour protection. This booster has anti-oxidants to prevent fading of hair colour.
  • Omega 3 & 6 (purple) – replenishment. To restore elasticity of the hair.

If I’m honest, I have no idea what the combination was that was made up for me, I was too busy trying to get my head around why no one had thought of this before!

The great thing about the Fusio-Dose treatment is that it’s instant. Instant to mix-up and instant to get working into your hair. So after Corey washed my hair, he went to mix up my magic potion and was back within seconds to put in the hair treatment.

So once that was all washed out I realised that something was missing. My hair wasn’t wrapped up in their usual big black towels as I made my way back to my seat. It turns out they now use an eco friendly biodegradable towel which doesn’t get reused on someone else. For a hygiene freak like me (I can’t stand towels/sponges) this was music to my ears!

I have to say, it’s been a really long time since I’ve been to a salon where I’ve enjoyed the whole experience. There was no awkward small talk, I felt like I was listened to and a trim actually was a trim! I was also sick halfway through my haircut and the team were so sweet with making sure I was OK and i couldn’t be more grateful.
I left the salon super happy and will most definitely be back! To book yourself an appointment visit the Rush website here.
