If you’re a follower of my blog you’ll know that I have tried and tested (and still continue to use) The Original Makeup Eraser. It is a genius product that is specifically designed to take off your makeup with just water. Perfect for skin that’s sensitive to lots of different products really.
So of course when I came across Makeup Revolution’s Pro Makeup Eraser Towel at my last trip to Superdrug, I had to give it a go.
Makeup Revolution is a brand mostly known for it’s dupes. I prefer their own products, like their highlighting trio palette which is beyond amazing as opposed to their eyeshadow dupes which I could take or leave.
As expected the packaging is pretty much the same – a plastic eraser shaped box which holds the ‘towel’. You’ll also notice that they decided to opt for the popular hot pink colour. I couldn’t see a black alternative so I picked a pink one up.
What I find really interesting is that The original Makeup Eraser’ is based on a scientific (kinda) creation of a specially knitted polyester/silk fibre which when wet, creates a hydro-mechanical process that breaks the surface tension of the oils that bond makeup to the skin. They even emphasise on how it will take off waterproof makeup.
The makeup eraser towel however…well according to the Superdrug website “removes makeup completely and is made of the finest soft material that leaves your face feeling clean.” So in other words, it’s just a really soft cloth lol. The label also just states that it’s 100% polyester – lovely.
I’ve tried the Makeup Eraser Towel and I have to say it really is very soft. I did stand in the bathroom stroking it against my face for a while before actually giving it a go. Unlike the original, they didn’t recommend putting it in the washing machine first before use so I got stuck right in.
Be warned when using it to wipe off anything sticky, the pink in the cloth transfers a little bit and the fur/fibres do shed.
Does it work as brilliantly as the Makeup Eraser? Not quite. It’s not so good at removing long wearing foundation and waterproof mascara. With that being said however, I love using it on my eyes. The softness of the towel is so gentle on my eyes and it’s a lot more thorough than using cotton pads with micellar water. I’m not sure I would purchase this product again as for £10 I’d rather get the original.
If you want to try out the towel for yourself, you can purchase it here.
