South Bank Christmas Market 2014

There’s nothing like visiting a Christmas market to get you into the festive spirit; and if you’re in the area, Southbank Centre’s pop up Christmas market is exactly what you need to bring out the festive cheer in you.

The wooden chalets, are cute little huts filled with treats for all the family. My favourite was of course the hand made fudge one! Delicious! There are said to be 80 different chalet’s across the area, however they are all spread out so I do recommend that you have a a good walkabout first and to check them all out.

You’ll be able to sample all kinds of delicious treats and get some unique Christmas gifts in just in time for the big day.  I’m sure you all know how much I love the carousel and I was thrilled to see that it was in full swing. It’s £2 per person and lets anyone of any age have a go! Out of my way kids!
As if it wasn’t atmospheric enough with the beautiful city view, the sweet sounds of a local choir will be serenading all the market go-ers twice a day.

This year there is also a great Christmas maze that’s fun for all the family as well as La Soiree. La Soiree is a stunning cabaret show where traditional acts such as juggling and trapeze are joined by more exotic performances like hula dancing, burlesque and who’d have thought it – ping-pong ball-bouncing antics! Think Cirque du soleil, but for an adult audience; with that said, be warned as there is nudity so it may not be suitable for young children.

La Soirée starts its run on 5 November and continues through to 11 January. Tickets are from £15. There are no shows on Mondays but two on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and 10pm. Visit the Southbank Centre’s website for more information on performance times and tickets.
