I honestly thought I had been scarred for life from using coconut oil in my hair from the many a traumatic time that my mum insisted she comb my hair and smothered it in coconut oil. #PerksOfBeingIndian
I’m also one of those greasy hair phobic girls, which means I try and skip the conditioner in the shower in fear that I will end up with premature greasy hair.
In recent times, I’ve had real difficulty with my hair in that…well it’s falling out and has become extremely dry. The fear of going bald has had me try out all sorts of shampoos and hair treatments but none which yielded any results that are to shout about…or even blog about. After some contemplation I thought I would at least try and tackle the dryness and after some research I kept coming across the age old coconut oil in your hair as a recommendation.
I didn’t want to use the pure coconut oil as the smell still makes me slightly nauseous, so I went to my local superdrugs and came across this gem! – Palmers Coconut Oil Conditioner
At 250ml it’s a pretty big bottle, enough to last a long while. I purchased mine a few months ago and there’s still loads left.
The packaging states that it is a repairing conditioner that repairs and renews dry and damaged hair. It’s aimed at hair that is fine and limp, which is exactly what my hair is like.So you can imagine my joy when I came across it.
The brand Palmers are known for their Coco Butter and skin care range so I wasn’t sure how well they would do with a hair care product or how well it would work; but honestly, at that point I was willing to try anything.
Upon closer inspection I read that the product contained vitamin E and Keratin, could this product get any better? Well yes actually it can! On top of everything else, it contains no sulfates or parabens. So this is just pure goodness for your hair.
Being the greasy hair-phobe that I am, I decided to use the conditioner before I went into the bath. I covered my hair in the conditioner, (concentrating on the tips) and left it on for about 15-20 mins before I went in the shower.
The results? I’m honestly amazed, there has been a huge huge improvement in my hair even after just the first wash! I will post before and after pictures once i’ve taken them just so that you can see how clear the difference is! The product also leaves a lovely tropical coconuty smell which I actually like…shock horror!
A must-have product, particularly for those with dry/damaged hair.
Do you use coconut oil in your hair? Have you tried this product before? What do you think of the Palmers brand?
