The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub Review

This month I’ve been trying out a coconut scrub from The Body Shop. I was traumatised by the amount of coconut oil my mother insisted on using on my hair when I was a child and once I managed to escape her hair combing days, I kept a safe distance from anything coconut related. Even the smell made me feel uneasy.

However, recently I can’t get enough of the stuff and the benefits of the fruit…yes it is a fruit, i’ve done my research!…are endless! I’ve been on Roaccutane for a few months now and my skin is extremely dry and peeling. This often makes me itch like crazy! I decided I needed to find a good nourishing conditioner and where better to find one than The Body Shop.

According to The Body Shop:

This exfoliating body scrub contains organic virgin coconut oil. It leaves skin soft and smooth.

Removes dead skin cells

Stimulates skin microcirculation

Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth

Tropical coconut scent

The consistency is thick and grainy, as an exfoliator should be. It’s easy to apply and even easier to wash off…none of those grainy bits left behind! The packaging is your standard body shop container, which is hard wearing and i’m going to guess biodegradable because The Body shop are all lovely and ethical (yay Anita Roddick!).

Having used it for 3 weeks now, I can honestly say it is pretty amazing stuff. It does exactly what it says on the tin and it left my skin feeling nourished and definitely less flaky/itchy. To my surprise the scent wasn’t extremely overpowering either. I would definitely recommend it to all, particualrly those with dry skin and/or accutane users.
